Jet-Lagged Attempts

Judging by my last blog post about London you may not believe this, but this time I did absolutely no shopping in this alluring city. Believe it or not, I left the country of England with what I came with, not including my new travel companions: my mom, and then my dad and 19-year-old brother, who both landed in Europe for their first time ever.

I’d have to say London was a good first city for first-time Europe travelers like my dad and brother. Besides a few hiccups with the metro (since for whatever reason multiple lines were down), there was no language barrier, save the more harsh British accents and strange lingo. But we could trudge along, and that was enough to see the unique London city by tour bus and on foot.

Though the London city tour bus may have literally put us on a moving pedestal that shouted “HELLO WE’RE TOURISTS” throughout the entire city, I will admit it was the perfect way to see the very spread-out landscape of London. I saw way more in my one day in London with my family than my four day stay over Thanksgiving (granted that my shopping sprees may be a reason for that).

Too obvious?

I spy Big Ben...

Since my dad loves anything that has to do with the World Wars and history in general, I knew I’d be going to see the Winston Churchill museum (war bunkers) a second time. But hey, I won’t complain—just as good as last time.

One thing I’m so glad I got to do this time around in London was walk across a street! Yes, it sounds funny, but this isn’t just any old street: it’s Abbey Road. Long-time Beatles fan, my dad raised my brother on The Beatles, so of course we had to go to the famous street where they took the photo for the Abbey Road album cover of the band walking across the crosswalk. I will say, the street is just a street. We awkwardly waited for cars to pass by as we jutted across the street taking photos. We did this several times. Excessive? Maybe, but not to us!

And just like that, our short London trip was over.

On to the next: Paris.
