Chi Os take Madrid. Subtitle: What it looks like to over-eat in Spain

I can honestly say that both my heart and stomach were full after last night. Cheesy but true. Carolyn and her husband, Bill Lorimer had the honor of being the first familiar faces I've seen from the states since I've come to Madrid about a month ago. Carolyn and I go way back to when I first ran through the fields to the Chi Omega house on bid day at TCU. She was the Chi Omega Recruitment Advisor at the time, and held that position until I became Recuitment Chair my senior year. How humbling it is to think that I was the last recruitment chair to work with Carolyn, as she retired this year :( But not too sad, since she now has all this extra time to take up seeing the world alongside her husband!
As recommended by the concierge of their hotel (The Westin Palace), we went to dinner at El Barril de Las Letras . It ended up being a great recommendation! Almost too great...by the end I was pretty miserable from how much food I ate. Here's a play by play:
La bebida (Drink):
Pino Noir, which turned out to be a pink champagne...
Para empezar (apps):
Bread, bread and more bread.
Calamares de potera a la parilla
Ensalada verde de frutas frescos (Green salad with fresh fruit)
La cena (Dinner):
Arroz con langosta (Paella/rice with lobster)
*Carolyn and I split this and it was still a portion size for 4 people each...
El postre (dessert):
Cream-filled Crepes

All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better night with such an inspiring couple!
